The Topic of Our Daily Manna for 15th September 2020 Is “THE GBR STUDY: THE COST OF HEAVEN!”

Basic Scriptures: JOHN 3 : 1-16

There is a question in the mind of many Americans, and that is: How much does it cost to live comfortably? In an attempt by Americans to answer this question, they often use a rule of thumb called the 50/30/20 rule of budgeting. This rule says that half of your income (50%) should go to necessities, 20% to savings and investments and 30% to splurges (extravagant spending) and fun. In order to answer this same question, GoBankingRates.com (GBR), an American company that operates an extensive network of financial web properties, did a study on how much is needed to live comfortably in each of America’s 50 largest metropolis based on the cost of living in each city.

It used Zillow (an online real estate database company with headquarters in Washington) to calculate housing costs in each city and Sperling Best Places (a website that offers information about cities) to estimate other necessities like transportation, groceries and health care. The result was mindboggling. To give a few instances, they came up with the following results. To live in Atlanta, you need per annum an average income of $51, 701; if you are a home owner $88,607$ and if you have to pay rent, $88,151: Austin (Texas) $63,717; Boston $62,021. At the end of the day, the study concluded that the average income of a worker in each of the major cities in the United States will make it impossible to live comfortably in these 50 cities without making cuts. The summary of this is that you must cut costs to live comfortably in these cities.

Whereas to live comfortably in cities across America comes at different costs, the good news is that for those who want to make heaven their home at the end of their sojourn here on earth, the rate is the same. The fact is that it does not even cost money to live in heaven; all that it costs is just a change of heart and lifestyle. The journey to living in heaven begins with a life of total surrender to Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. Today’s scripture says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” (Verse 5). The terms are as simple as that. Secondly, living in heaven comes with a life of commitment to holy living.

Heaven will not admit the unholy. “And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie; but they which are written in the Book of Life” (Rev 21:27). Apostle Paul wrote this to the Corinthians: “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Cor. 6:9-10).Heaven is a city that is incomparable to none here on earth. The streets are paved with gold; and there is neither day nor night.

Depression, hardship, Coronavirus, Ebola, HIV, diabetes, etc, (sickness and diseases), natural disasters, accidents and any other thing contrary to human existence are not found therein. Peradventure you have used this devotional for years without having surrendered to Christ, here is your opportunity to do so. See page 28 now and pray those prayers! 4. Surrender your life to Christ now if you have not done so. If you have, dedicate your life to Him afresh NOW. Pray about today now.
